Will this work when I get it?
All keys and fobs arrive uncut and unprogrammed. Please refer to the product description to see if there are DIY programming instructions available. All keys will require cutting by a locksmith in your area.
Where are you located, and can I come to your store and pick up the keys and fobs?
All orders are shipped from within the U.S. straight to you. We do not have any store locations.
Using a procedure posted online, I was able to easily program this key to operate the ignition system to start the car (2012 Focus). I was unable to successfully program the remote buttons. When the new key buttons were programmed, it cancelled the buttons on one of the existing master keys. When the master key buttons were re-programmed in cancelled the remote functions on the new key, and so on time after time. This may be an anomaly in the car's computer, or perhaps this key needs a locksmith to fully program it, so it would be wrong to blame the key itself, in which case 5 stars would be appropriate.
I had to call a locksmith to cut the key and program it. I call ford and it was going to cost more money. I have to pay the locksmith $382.69 to cut and program the key. Ford was going to charge over $500 dollars.
Local key shop was able to cut and program the key which helped save me money on total cost. Key works fine with no issues.
I bought this key for my wife's 2018 Ford Focus, hoping that I could get it cut and program it myself and save the $150 - $250 that it would cost to get a new key from a dealer or a locksmith. It cost $25 for a laser cut and then I was able to figure out how to program it. If you have 2 working keys, it's pretty easy. The old key was broken, but I was still able to use it for programing, and we had another basic key, without the fob, but it worked.
The key fob arrived in under 24 hours. Because it is to replace a lost key I need to take it to an auto locksmith to get it programmed and cut, a dyi needs 2 keys. I recommend that people purchase and programme the key while one two keys.
